WEAVERVILLE—Johnie James Edmonds, age 81, of 28 Pug Run, died Sunday, May 13, 2012.
Mr. Edmonds was born March 28, 1931, in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He retired from Town House Bakery after 24 years of service and from Albany Manufacturing after 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ellen Huffman Edmonds; stepmother, Mary C. Edmonds; and brothers, Billy, Guy, Horace, and Marvin Edmonds.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Beatrice Taffer Edmonds; daughter, Kathey Yarbrough and husband Don of Summerville, S.C.; sister, Irene Crain and husband V.J. of Charlotte; granddaughter, Teresa; and great granddaughter, Sarah.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Cline Hensley, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
At other times the family will be at the residence.
