WEAVERVILLE– Johnnie Clayton Parris, age 79, of Weaverville, died Wednesday February 14, 2018, and was reunited with the love of his life on Valentine’s Day.
Mr. Parris was born August 18, 1938, in Buncombe County to the late Clayton and Ethel Louise Haney Parris and was a resident of Buncombe County all of his life. He was a graduate of North Buncombe High School, where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. He then graduated from Western Carolina University. Johnnie was a teacher his entire 30 year career at Erwin High School; where he coached football, basketball and baseball. He loved being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ellen Silver (Corn) Parris who died in 2017.
Surviving are his daughter, Missy Parris and husband Roger Banks; granddaughter, Lauren Parris and special aunt, Jennie Sluder.
A private funeral service will be held with entombment to follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville.
