Joseph M. Canfield

WEAVERVILLE—Joseph M. Canfield, III, age 93, of Weaverville, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Mr. Canfield was born January 12, 1919, in Philadelphia, Pa. He had a varied career in railroad transit, retiring in 1984 and moving to the Asheville area. He was a member of the Civitan Club for a number of years and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville. He was the son of the late Joseph M. Canfield, Jr., and Elizabeth Yost Canfield. Surviving are his wife, Charlene Canfield; sister, Peg Young of Connecticut; one niece and one nephew. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2012, in First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville with Rev. Skip Gillikin officiating. Private burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.
