WEAVERVILLE—Joyce Elizabeth "Nanny" Ballard Chandler, age 77, of 24 Garrison Rd., died Sunday, December 4, 2011.
Mrs. Chandler was born January 29, 1934, in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County most of her life. She retired from American Enka and loved reading, flower gardening and animals. Joyce was a daughter of the late Cecil and Myrtle Chandler Ballard and also preceded in death by an infant son, her sisters, Faye Crowder, Ruby Thomas and Marjorie Tweed; brothers, Arthur "Gene" Ballard, Harold Ballard; grandson, Benjamin Gentry.
Surviving are her sons, Kenneth Gerald Gentry and wife Martha, Gary L. Gentry and wife Deborah all of Weaverville; sister, Kathleen Hensley of Madison; brother, Kelly Ballard of Fla.; grandchildren, Tina Michelle Tasios and husband Chris, Gregg Shawn Gentry and his fiance Shannon Louise Wyatt, Hannah, Jacob and Jared Gentry; great grandchildren, Alexius and Braden Tasios, Brianna and Isabella Gentry.
Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with the Reverend Kevin Payne officiating.

She was loved by all that knew her and will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
