Joyce Ann Burrell Ballew

BARNARDSVILLE - Joyce Ann Burrell Ballew, age 73 of Barnardsville died Friday, March 13, 2015 at John F. Keever Solace Center. Mrs. Ballew was born February 17, 1942 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She loved her dog, Lucy as well as gardening, cooking, and ceramics. Joyce attended Ivy Hill Baptist Church and had worked for Shaw Industries for 10 years. She was the daughter of the late Ralph James Burrell and Thelma Coates Burrell. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Reid Ballew; brother, Kenneth Burrell and wife Nedra of Barnardsville; niece, Lisa Burrell Smith and husband Jimmy of Barnardsville; three loving grand nephews, Chris Smith, Dakotah Smith and Hunter Smith, along with many additional brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev. Worth Emory and Rev. Larry Coates officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Lisa Smith, 550 Paint Fork Road, Barnardsville.
