Juanita Rebecca Dills Greer of Weaverville went to meet her Lord October 10, 2017.
Mrs. Greer was born May 22, 1928 in Jackson County to the late Jesse Grady and Gracie Green Dills. Juanita was also preceded in death by her husband, Joel Medford Greer, who died in 2000; and siblings, Grady, Jesse Ramsey “J.R.”, Harold Ray, Claude and Pauline.
Juanita was a graduate of Cullowhee High School and Western Carolina University. In 1950 she began her career as a teacher and then as a librarian in Buncombe County, primarily in the North Buncombe District, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Retired School Personnel, N.C.E.A., N.E.A. and the Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a past member of the Eastern Star. A member of First Baptist Church Weaverville, she had served as librarian for a number of years and was one of the first involved in the Senior Meal Center at the church.
Surviving are her son, Brian and his wife, Kim of Fairfax Virginia; grandchildren, Shira, Adara and Ethan; sisters, Marie Smith, Dorris Beck and husband, Sam, Alma Shuford and husband, Robert and Frankie Reynolds and husband, Bennie; sisters-in-law, Linda Dills, Joyce Dills and Martha Williams and husband, Robert; several nieces, nephews and their spouses.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 in First Baptist Church Weaverville with Reverends Dr. Jim McCoy and Wesley Pike officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at West Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Emerald Ridge Care Center for the love and care shown Juanita during the time she spent there. Likewise, they extend a special thank you to Brenda Sherlin and the other caregivers who cared for her over the past five years.
