JUANITA BLACK VICK
WOODFIN – Juanita Black Vick, age 77, of Buncombe County died Friday, March 25, 2016 at St. Joseph Campus.
Mrs. Vick was born March 9, 1939 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She sang in a quartet and did a lot of volunteer work, which included Meals on Wheels. Juanita had worked at Burlington, Avondale Mills, Quorum Mill and Charles D. Owen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius Pearson Black and Mary Jane Williams Black, along with her husband, Exey Vick who died in 1984; sister, Peggy Guice; and brothers, Herman, William and Leon Black.
Surviving are her daughter, Arlie Clark and husband Jimmy; sons, Tom Vick and wife Carla, and Roger Vick; sister, Dorothy Buckner; grandchildren, Chris Clark, Tom Vick II (Little Tom), Joanie Garcia and Laura Vick and husband Clint Rinke; great grandchildren, Rosemary Vick, Jacob Vick, Luis Garcia, Michelle Garcia, Andre Rinke, and Chyanne Rinke, Olivia Vick, and Thomas J. Vick; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville, with the Reverend Ronald Dodson officiating. Burial will be in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to her service at the funeral home.
