JUDY BLANKS OWENBY
ALEXANDER - Judy Blanks Owenby, age 62, of 30 White Thorn Drive died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Judy was born June 20, 1951 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. Her life was devoted to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and to her church. She was a member of Bee Tree Missionary Baptist Church. Judy was the daughter of the late Johnny and Katherine Church Blanks.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Jerry D. Owenby; daughter, Ginger O. Wilson and husband John of Alexander; sons, Rocky Owenby and wife Tanya of Asheville and Scotty E. Owenby and wife Wendy of Weaverville; sister, Kathy Postlewait of Rogersville, TN; brother, Lewis Blanks and wife Donna of Old Fort; six grandchildren, Laurel, Luke, Kalyn, John Morgan, Isaiah, and Hannah Grace and her special church family.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Ronnie Edwards, Rev. Gary Hensley, and Rev. Larry Carver officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
Flowers are welcome or a memorial contribution may be made to a charity of choice.
The family would like to give a special thanks to CarePartners Hospice, WNC Cancer Care, and Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
