JULIA MAE "JUDY" RICE HYLEMON BARNARDSVILLE - Julia "Judy" Rice Hylemon, age 74, of Haw Branch Road, died Friday, March 13, 2015 at Mission Hospital. Mrs. Hylemon was born May 1, 1940, in Buncombe County where she had been a resident for most of her life. Judy volunteered at Senior Citizens of Buncombe County and was a waitress. She was the daughter of the late Annie Rice and the late Newt Owens. Surviving are her daughters, Sherry Meadows of Barnardsville, Sandy Gosnell of Asheville, Robbie Hylemon of Canton, and Stacy Ballard of Barnardsville; son, Dewayne Ward of Sylva; sisters, Evelyn West of Connelly Springs, and Grace Phillips of Barnardsville; brothers, Walter Owens of Lincolnton, and Warren Silvers of Barnardsville; eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Her graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Pegg Cemetery, Barnardsville.
