ASHEVILLE—Katherine "Kathy" Owenby, age 51, of 52 Oak Hill Dr., died Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Kathy was born June 2, 1961, in Buncombe County. She was the daughter of Joyce Payne Roberts and the late John W. Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Beth Roberts. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Patrick Owenby; daughters, Brandy Ward and husband Tim, and April Carver; step-daughter, Amanda Owenby; step-son, Andy Owenby; sisters, Rebecca Dean and husband Tim, and Karen Lyda and husband Bobby; brother, Michael Roberts and wife Lynn; four grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Revs. Dennis Lanning and Wilbur Hines officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 Monday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Funeral Home to assist with expenses.
