WEAVERVILLE—Kathleen "Kitty" Penland Kyles, age 88, of Sugar Cove Road, died Monday, June 22, 2009.
Mrs. Kyles was born Dec. 8, 1920 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was a member of Reems Creek-Beech Presbyterian Church. Kitty was a daughter of the late Robert Alexander and Mary Ada Hunsucker Penland and the wife of the late Herman B. Kyles. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Augusta Penland Bradley, and brother, Peter Sanders Penland.
Surviving are her sister, Blanche Penland Hensley of Asheville; niece, Jan Morris Swanson of Columbia, SC; nephew, Robert "Bob" Penland of Weaverville; grand nephew, Harold Arthur Swanson of Columbia, SC and her beloved dog, Blackie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 in Reems Creek-Beech Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Henry D. Scoggins officiating and Eulogy by Tom Lawrence. Burial will be in Lewis Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
