WOODFIN – Kimberly Franklin Powell, age 58, of Woodfin passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the Solace Center.
Kim was born on December 29, 1966, in Buncombe County where she had lived all her life. She worked as an executive assistant at Mission Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Ray and Edith Blankenship Franklin and was also preceded in death by sister, Brenda Kerr; and brother, Bruce Franklin.
Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Ray A. Franklin and wife Elaine, Bob Franklin and wife Donna; brother-in-law, Col. Charles Kerr USMC (Ret); nieces and nephews, Nicole, Jason, Zach, Caleb, and Laura; great niece, Riley and great nephews, Carter and Walker; uncle, David Blankenship (Dee); aunt, Jean Lloyd (Dallas), Mildred Winders (William), Alma Blankenship and also Alma Toms, who was always an angel to Kim; also numerous cousins and dear friends, Vicki, Karen and Sonya.
A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery, 9940 US Hwy 23 Alt., Mars Hill, NC 28754 with the Rev. Craig Shelton officiating.
Kim will be available for viewing Friday, February 21, 2025, after 11:30 a.m. at West Funeral Home, the family will not be present. The family would like to request memorial contributions be made to the Rathbun House, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
