WEAVERVILLE/KANNAPOLIS—Krysten Michele Cathey Oaks, age 28, of Kannapolis, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
Mrs. Oaks was born February 18, 1984, in Buncombe County. She was a graduate of Erwin High School and UNC Charlotte with Magna Cum Laude honors. Krysten was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She was formerly employed as a SCADA Engineer at Citi.LLC in South Charlotte. Krysten was a devoted, loving and dedicated wife, mother and daughter. She was the daughter of Rick and Dina Eskew Cathey of Weaverville.
Her courage and strength touched the lives of all who knew her, either in person or through the words of others. The caring staff at the Batte Cancer Center at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord, NC, were touched by her infectious smile. The family would like to thank all those who cared for her and thought of her as family.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Ryan Kenneth Oaks; her loving son, Aiden Joseph Oaks of the home; grandparents, Neil and Patricia Cathey and Earl and Fran Eskew, all of Weaverville; father- and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce Oaks of Beaver, Pa.; sister-in-law, Allison Oaks of Aliquippa, Pa.; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Dr. Phil Dillingham officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
