Landon Kendred Wallen

WEAVERVILLE – Landon Kendred Wallen, 89, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017. He was born May 5, 1928 to the late George Harry and Mary Scarborough Wallen in Buncombe County where he lived most of his life. He was also preceded in death by three brothers Charles, Howard and Earl Wallen; and two sisters Pauline Ball and Sarah Smith. Kendred was a life-long member of Morgan Hill Baptist Church, a member of Vance Masonic Lodge #293 AF & AM, and retired from the NC Department of Transportation. Surviving are his wife, Robbie Coates Wallen; daughter Mary Deane Kinnett and her husband Ed of Clemmons, NC; son Dearl Wallen and his wife Carol of Fletcher, NC; four grandchildren, Stephanie Ulmer, Kendred Wallen, Jr. and his wife Heather, Chelsea Jennings and her husband Aaron, and Katy Kidd and her husband Erik; three great-grandchildren, Abby and Charlie Ulmer and Naomi Jennings. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Morgan Hill Baptist Church, Weaverville with Rev. Kevin Garner officiating.
