WEAVERVILLE – Larry D. Hensley, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, at Mission Hospital after a courageous battle with Covid.
Larry was born April 4, 1963, in Buncombe County to Martha Hensley of North Asheville and the late Harold Hensley. He was a 1981 graduate of North Buncombe High School and a resident of Buncombe County. Larry worked as a Project Engineer at Aprotech Powertrain in Asheville, and previously worked as a Sales Rep for Widia/Kennametal Inc.
Larry was a great friend to so many, he never knew a stranger. He was a loving Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and Grandfather. He had a great passion for the restoration of classic cars. Larry and his wife attended Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville. Larry's faith was strong. He knew he was a Child of God, and he is resting in the arms of Jesus.
Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Regina Townsend Hensley; daughter, Allie Hensley and grandson, Mason of Mount Holly; mother, Martha Hensley; brother, Randy Hensley (Christy); mother-in-law, Barbara Townsend; nieces, Brittany Silvers (Travis), and Amanda Hensley; as well as a multitude of aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 30, 2021, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Ralph Sexton Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow the service in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Davis, Mark Silvers, Randy Hensley, Danny West, John McElrath, and Lanny Hill.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the funeral home.
