LARRY DEE HENSLEY WOODFIN - Larry Dee Hensley, age 70, of 25 Wellington Drive was called home by his Savior on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Mr. Hensley was born in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was born to the late Joe H., Jr. and Helen Elizabeth Massey Hensley and was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jean Duncan. Larry retired from Square D in 1999 with 35 years of service and was also Captain of the Weaverville Fire Department for 12 years, serving from 1977 until 1989. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and loved the Lord. Larry was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Glenda Rice Hensley; daughter, Shevell H. Martin and husband Scott of Swannanoa; three grandchildren, Erica Campbell and husband Guy, Travis Martin and wife Heather B. all of Black Mountain and Nick Martin of Chapin, SC; three great grandchildren, Bradley, Wyatt and Davis Campbell; along with Savannah, Summer and Samuel Robinson who are special to Larry and Glenda. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 21, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Larry Sprouse and Rev. Everette Haney, Jr. officiating. Private entombment will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
