Lela Norton Fox

WEAVERVILLE - Lela Norton Fox, 90, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 1, 2024.

Lela was the daughter of the late Ovid and Sophie Norton.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Wade Fox, and by her siblings: Paul, Blanche, Nola, Elsie, and Roland.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael Fox (Paula), Fort Worth TX, and Darryl Fox, (Jackie), Weaverville NC; grandchildren Paige Fox Gibson (Hunter), Weaverville NC, and Dylan Fox, Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren Abner and Scottie Gibson, and a brother, Edward Norton (Judy), Hendersonville NC.

Lela was born March 5, 1934, in Madison County, but spent most of her life in Buncombe County in Weaverville, raising her family and tending to her garden and flowers. Lela was an active member of Celebration Church, formerly Boyd’s Union Chapel Church, in Weaverville for many years, where she made lifelong friends, greatly enjoying the fellowship of her church community.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2024, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Pastor Branson Bullman officiating. Burial will follow in Allen Family Cemetery, Marshall.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday prior to the funeral service.
