Leon Black, age 70 of Leicester died Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
Mr. Black was born February 24, 1945 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He worked for Burlington Industries and Owen Manufacturing. Leon never met a stranger and was good to everyone he met. He supported Hospice and The Toys for Tots Toy Ride. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius Pearson and Mary Jane Williams Black; daughter, Lisa Ann Black; brothers, Herman and William Black; sister, Peggy Guice.
Surviving are his wife of 52 ½ years Geraldine Brown Black; daughter, Teresa Franklin and husband Michael; sons, Dwayne Black and Kevin Black; sisters, Dorothy Buckner and Juanita Vick; grandchildren, Daniel Black, Crystal and husband Chris Chambers, Jason Black; four great grandchildren; and his dachshund, Pee-Wee.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Charles Phillips officiating.
The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
