Lettie Marie Moore Barrett

Lettie Marie Moore Barrett, at the age of 91, peacefully passed away early Saturday morning, July 20, 2024, at Aldersgate Levine & Dickson Hospice.

She was born December 11, 1932, in Madison County, NC, the daughter of the late Charlie Moore Jr. and Cora Smith Moore.

Lettie, a loving and devoted grandmother, retired in 1995 after ten years as a Buncombe County Deputy Tax Collector and was a graduate of Warren Wilson College. She found great joy in reading, solving word searches, tending to her garden, and cultivating beautiful flowers around her home. She was a cherished friend and mother and an adored great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever hold her dear in their hearts as "Nana."

Her husband, Robert (Bob) Barrett, son, James David Barrett, and brothers and sisters, Earl, Clayton, Chad, Dan, Josie, Lucille, Irene, and Ellen, preceded her in death.

Survivors include brother Dean Moore (Francis), daughter Lynne Cole (Jerry), and son Charles Barrett (Kim); two grandchildren, Marie Cole (Anthony) and Melissa Weaver (Mike); and four great-grandchildren, Wesley Mical, Alex Mical, Cora Dowdle, and Abigail Weaver.

Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff of VIA Health Partners Hospice & Palliative Care for their unwavering support and care during her final years.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at West Family Funeral Services, Weaverville, NC. Friends will be received from 1:15pm to 2:15pm, and the service will start at 2:30pm. Private interment will be at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
