ASHEVILLE – Levon “Lee” Warren, age 81 of Asheville died Friday, August 11, 2017 at John F. Keever Solace Center. Mr. Warren was born February 5, 1936 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1954-1966. After returning from service he was a homicide investigator with the Asheville Police Department twenty years and then with the Buncombe County Sherriff’s Department four years, retiring as a Captain. A member of the Hominy Masonic Lodge #491 AF & AM, he was a 32nd degree Mason. During his time of serving his community he received numerous awards and commendations. He was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church where he had served on the Deacon Board. His parents, Weldon and Etta Morgan Warren as well as five sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. Lee sincerely loved his family. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Brenda Tweed Warren; daughter, Tammy Harlos and husband TJ; sons, Jimmy Robinson and wife Karen and Larry Williams and wife Sonya; sister, Violet Ducker; sister-in-law, Coralee Warren; several grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Gracie. His service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in the Chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Dan McCurry officiating. Burial will follow.
