Linda Harwood Crawford

WEAVERVILLE – Linda H. Crawford, 84, of Weaverville, NC passed away in her home on the evening of February 25, 2022.  She was a native of Asheville.

Linda loved the WNC mountains, including a childhood full of family archeological adventures.  She was loving and devoted to her family members and found sincere joy in hearing about their activities.  She loved cooking, gardening, flowers, birds and wildlife and was delighted by the beauty of serenity of nature, especially the elements of nature around her home.  There were many housecats that enjoyed the privilege of living with Linda – she had a special place in her heart for “her kitties.

She spent her working life in the insurance industry as a Claims Specialist for 40+ years in the Ellis Tomberlin Agency, Robinson Conner and Acordia in Downtown Asheville.  Outside of her work in these years, she enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, painting, listening to music and cooking.

Linda was fortunate to have two wonderful marriages.  First to the late Albert Hargrove of Asheville.  After Albert’s death, she was blessed to be married to the late Glenn Crawford of Weaverville.  Life with these two terrific gentlemen made her life enjoyable and fulfilling.  She was blessed to have three fantastic stepsons with kind and loving families that greatly enriched her life.

As a kind and caring soul, Linda provided loving care for her parents and two husbands as they aged and had medical needs.  She demonstrated patience, devotions, gentleness, and love as she cared for those that needed her.  As Linda battled some lingering health challenges in her later years, she demonstrated amazing tenacity, fortitude, strength, courage, resilience and stamina in her determination to live life to the fullest as an independent and self-sufficient woman (and always on her own terms!).

Linda is survived by Stepson Scott Crawford and wife Dianne Crawford and their daughters Chloe Lunsford (husband Charlie Lunsford) and Sara Stone (husband Philip Stone); Stepson Todd Crawford and Todd’s daughter Caroline Blankenship (husband Zach Blankenship) and their children Harrison Blankenship, John Blankenship and Avery Blankenship; Stepson Keith Hargrove and wife Trish Hargrove and Trish’s son Geoffrey Bradshaw and wife Julianne Bradshaw and their children Jayden Mancini, Teagan Bradshaw and Max Bradshaw; brother-in-law Frank Watkins; nephew Hard Watkins and wife Liz Jackson; nephew Battle Watkins and wife Shannon Watkins and their children Graham Watkins, Noah Watkins, Lottie Watkins and Corrie Watkins; cousins, Janice Stephenson and husband Ray Stephenson and Alica Overton and husband Ned Overton; and very special friends Kathy Rockey, Richard Cosgrove and wife Ruthie Cosgrove, and Penny Olson.

Linda was preceded in death by Glenn Crawford (husband), Albert Hargrove (husband), Ray and Marquerite Harwood (parents), and Linette Harwood Watkins (sister).

A graveside service was held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 3:30 pm at Clark’s Chapel Cemetery, 5 Clark’s Chapel Church Road, Weaverville, NC 28787.  Battle Watkins, nephew, served as the officiant for the service.  The family received and greeted friends immediately after the service at a reception at the home.

Funeral services were handled by West Family Funeral Services of Weaverville (828) 645-3011.
