Linda A. Hunter, age 74, of Weaverville, died Thursday, October 14, 2021.
Linda affectionately known to many as “Ant Linda” was born June 14, 1947, to the late Augustine Angelillo, Sr. and Ellen Gaddy Angelillo. She grew up in Connecticut and moved with her family to Weaverville in 1963.
She was a graduate of North Buncombe High School, class of 1965, where she met the love of her life, Randy Hunter. He escorted her to the Junior-Senior prom, and they were high school sweethearts. After graduation they dated five years and were married July 25, 1970 and had 51 wonderful years together.
Linda was employed for about 45 years as an office administrator at Jefferson Standard and later Jefferson Pilot Insurance Company. In her retirement she enjoyed baking and working in her flowers.
A 40-year member at Locust Grove Baptist Church, Linda helped with many meal preparations and organizing events at the church.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her brother Jack Angelillo.
Surviving are her husband, Randy Hunter; sister, Rose Garrison and husband Dan of Weaverville; her special nephew, Anthony Garrison of Weaverville; and brother-in-law, Rev. Larry Hunter of Clyde
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Rev. Ben Whitmire, Rev. Dr. D. Harry Culbertson, Jr. and Rev. Larry Hunter will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Shelton, Sam Fox, Jim Huff, Anthony Garrison, Darrell Garrison and Larry Hunter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Garrison, Bruce DeBruhl, John Ballard, Dalton Ramsey, Mark DeBruhl, Dewain Mackey, Kenneth Clark, Arthur Herron, Sherman Cutshall, and John Shelton.
Burial will follow in Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brent Snyder officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 18, 2021, at West Funeral Home.
The family will be at the residence.
