LINDA JOYCE KUSH ASHEVILLE – Linda Joyce Kush entered this world on October 12, 1949 and gently departed to another on July 18, 2016. Linda was raised and lived most of her life in the warmth expanse of the Southwestern desert. Her father was a horse jockey and the family followed his circuit, often traveling from one destination to the next never calling one specific place home. Linda recounted an early love and joy of simply leaving one place, only to venture to a new place unknown. Not being anywhere particular, at any particular time spoke to her spirit. Free with simply being nowhere, she still knew the importance of having a somewhere. With that she offered her children and those that came to know her a feeling of comfort and stability, a deep sense of loving connectedness. Her home and her heart were a beautiful somewhere in which one could experience friendship and joy, acceptance and belonging. Linda also held a deep appreciation for the world beyond her home, traveling most recently to Japan in order to take part in the 1,000 year old custom of Hanami, which is the watching of the cherry blossoms in Springtime. As a metaphor for life itself, the cherry blossom represents radiant beauty, yet also acknowledges the short lived, transient nature of life. Linda, who held her beauty even after falling from the great tree of this life, was ever prepared for her death by having calmly understood and accepted this ancient wisdom. Although many are grieved by the absence of her, she would desire this to be a season in which, as the Hanami custom holds, that we celebrate the beauty of her life, while also taking a moment to appreciate the meaning and depth of our own. In right fashion, a celebration will take place at her home on July 31, 2016 at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, if so desired please offer support to the Duke ALS Clinic 932 Morreene Rd Durham, NC 27705. I, your daughter, cannot thank you enough Mom for showing me the way. I love you—you have been at peace with nowhere, have given us all a somewhere and now are everywhere. West Funeral Home is assisting the family. For those who desire, condolences may be offered to the family under Linda’s obituary at www.WestFamilyFuneralServices.com.
