WOODFIN—Linda Peek Ponder, age 62, of 41 Laurel Terrace died Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
Mrs. Ponder was born January 26, 1951, in Buncombe County where she had lived most of her life. She enjoyed driving around and seeing new things and visiting Charleston. She was the daughter of the late Rufus H. and Louisa Ramsey Peek.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, James N. Ponder, Jr.; son, James N. "Jimmy" Ponder, III, and wife Natalie of Weaverville; best friend who she loved like a sister, Joan McPeters; brothers, Dean Peek, Dennis Peek, Edward "Red" Peek, and Larry Peek, all of Woodfin, Jeff Peek of Barnardsville, and Robert Peek of Weaverville; and grandchildren, Sydney and Hayden Ponder.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Worth Emory officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
At other times, the family will be at the home of Jimmy and Natalie Ponder, 315 Ivy Hill Rd., Weaverville.
The family would like to thank Joan McPeters for taking Linda into her home and caring for her in her last days.
