Linda Maney Shope

ARDEN – Linda Maney Shope, 65, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at her home in Arden under Hospice care and surrounded by family.

Linda was born on May 26, 1958, in Buncombe County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Buron Maney and Myrtle Bradley Maney. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Lee Roy Maney.

Linda was raised in the Beech Community on Maney Branch Road in Weaverville, and she attended North Buncombe High School, and then Montreat Anderson College. She retired from Buncombe County Clerk of Superior Courts office in 2013 after 30 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Shope of Arden; her daughter, Kody LaRowe of Flat Rock; her son, Kory Knoupf of Candler; granddaughter, Hannah LaRowe; sisters, Sharon Allison of Erwin, Tennessee, Vikki Banks and husband Ray of Weaverville; brothers, Phil Maney and wife Leigh of Conway, South Carolina, Danny Maney and wife Diana of Weaverville, Tony Maney and wife Stephanie of Weaverville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 754 Aiken Road in Asheville. Reverend Keith Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. At Linda’s request, “no tux or tails, coats or ties – casual dress.”
