ASHEVILLE—Lindy F. "Buck" Dillingham, age 82, of 332 Baird Cove Road, died Sunday, September 19, 2010.
Buck was born July 28, 1928, in Anderson County, SC, where he lived until he was 16, when he moved to Asheville. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was co-owner and operator of Superior Auto Mart. Mr. Dillingham was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Gudger and Mattie Cargill Dillingham; his 19-month-old son, Larry Dean Dillingham; sister, Doris Browning; and brother, J.R. Dillingham.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, Iva McMahan Dillingham.
His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2010, in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville, NC, with Revs. Clark Henderson and Lee Roy Denton officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
