LEICESTER – Lois Jane King, age 98 of Leicester was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 4, 2017 with her family by her side.
She was born April 10, 1919 in Buncombe County where she had lived all her life, she was a homemaker. Lois was the daughter of the late William Pearson and Connie Brooks Gillespie; she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Lewis King; sons, William Ray King and Ralph Lewis King; two grandchildren that she raised, Danny Ray King and Kenneth Eugene King and sisters, Nora Mae Parham and Edith Tweed.
She was a loving mother to daughters, Ruth Webb, Frances Jane Clubb and Brenda K. King and grandchildren, Deborah Parsley and Wally King. Also surviving are her sisters, Marjorie Black and Ruby Briggs; brothers, Russell Gillespie and Paul Gillespie; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at South Turkey Creek Baptist Church, of which she was a founding member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
