LORETTA BALL BALLARD WEAVERVILLE - Loretta Ball Ballard, age 79, of Locust Grove Road passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Mrs. Ballard was born in Buncombe County to Muriel Allman Ball of Weaverville and the late John H. Ball, Sr. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Philip Ballard; son, Stuart Ballard; brothers, Charles Ball, John Hugh Ball; and a sister Marlene Ball Rogers. Loretta was a member of Ivey Creek Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother; daughters, Felecia McClure and husband Tommy of Rock Hill, SC, Vanessa Benfield and husband Perry of Weaverville, Joretta Cutshall of Asheville; sons, Allen Ballard of Clover, SC, Reverend Chris Ballard and wife Virginia of York, SC; sister, Theola Holdredge and husband Dave of Weaverville; sixteen grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Ballard will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Locust Grove Baptist Church, 330 Locust Grove Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787. Reverends Larry Rogers and Chris Ballard will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Vanessa Benfield, 190 Allman Hill Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787. Flowers are welcome. At the end of the ramp turn left on State Hwy. 197 go 1/10 of mile and turn right on Old Mars Hill Hwy. Go about 9/10 of a mile, bear left onto Locust Grove Road. Go about 1.6 miles and the church is on the right.
