Lucile M. Bishop

WEAVERVILLE - Lucile M. Bishop of Buncombe County, NC, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at a family home.

Mrs. Bishop was born April 24, 1933 in Etowah, TN and had lived in Buncombe County most of her life.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin and Icie Bolton Morrison, and the wife of the late Clee Othor Bishop who passed away in 2002.  She was also preceded in death by four brothers.

Mrs. Bishop worked at Rose’s for most of her career, winning a cruise as “Employee of the Year.”  She loved flower and vegetable gardening, reading mysteries, and enjoying animals, especially dogs and cats.  The sight of beautiful birds such as cardinals, bluebirds and hummingbirds will now make her family think of her.

Surviving are her children, Mary Ann Oberholtzer (Jack) of Wadesboro, NC, Clee Ella Knooihuizen (Steve) of Fort Mill, SC, and Christy Lynn Bishop of Waynesville, NC; grandchildren, Elizabeth Delle Smith (Brent), Joshua Rivers (Georgia), Terri DeJesus (Tony),  Erin Esmailka (Harlan), Christopher Criscoe, Courtney Martenson (Craig), Audra Lucile Hunt (Nathan) and Olivia Grace Walsh (Ian); great-grandchildren, Logan, Callie, Lillian, Juliana, Ryatt, Briana, Carson, Ethan, Mason, Eoghan, Cullen, Lochlan; and many nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Road, Asheville with Reverend Roy McPeters officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Anson County Animal Shelter, 7257 Old US Highway 74, Polkton, NC 28135.
