Lucile McDaris Rhea, age 87, of 1179 Reems Creek Road, died Monday, August 12, 2013.
Mrs. Rhea was born May 5, 1926 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She graduated in 1944 from Weaverville High School and Cecil's Business College in 1946. She retired after 29 years with Buncombe County Schools, having worked at North Buncombe High School, Weaverville Primary, Weaverville Grammar and North Buncombe Middle School as a secretary. A lifetime member of Reems Creek-Beech Presbyterian Church she participated in the Presbyterian Women's Group and was a Sunday School teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Kittie Fox McDaris, husband James Howard Rhea who died in 2013 and brothers, John, Arthur and James McDaris.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda Crawford and husband Steve and son, Hal Rhea and wife Pam all of Weaverville; grandchildren, Chris Crawford and wife Angie and Stephanie Raines and great grandchildren, Madeline, Emma and Blake.
Mrs. Rhea's funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 15, 2013 in Reems Creek-Beech Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jay Rabuck officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6—8 pm on Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
At other times the family will be at the home of Linda and Steve Crawford, 1195 Reems Creek Road, Weaverville.
