MABEL PITMAN MACE
WEAVERVILLE - Mabel Pitman Mace, age 82 of Weaverville died Monday, May 4, 2015.
Mrs. Mace was born March 1, 1933 in Mitchell County to the late John and Bertie Burleson Pitman and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She provided childcare in her home and was formerly employed with Christ Care at Christ United Methodist Church Daycare. Mrs. Mace was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Bill Mace who died in 1993; brothers, Reverend Lee Pitman, Earl Pitman, and Mack Pitman; sisters, Bonnie Ward, Lorene Buchanan, Ruth Minish, Pearl Biddix, Mary Buchanan and Bell Pitman.
Surviving are her sons, Gary Mace of Fairview, Jeff Mace, Greg Mace and wife Angela all of Weaverville; former daughter-in-law, Caroline Mace of Alexander; special niece Mary Louise Greene of Spruce Pine; grandchildren, Jennifer Mace, Luke Mace and wife Krissy, Jeremy Mace, Zack Mace, and Christian Mace; great grandchildren, Akira, Kylie, Bill, Ben and Anthony Mace.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Clark Henderson officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
