ASHEVILLE—Mabel Black Oldham, age 90, of Deaverview Road, died April 28, 2011.
Mrs. Oldham was born August 11, 1920, in Weaverville, the oldest child of the late Will and Mamie Watts Black. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Oldham; her son, Michael Lee Oldham; her sister, Madeleine Medford; and her brother, Wilfred Black.
Mrs. Oldham is survived by her two daughters, Jane Sentelle and husband David of Fairfax, Va., and Susan Warshaw and husband Henry of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Sharon Lewis and husband Jamie of Youngsville, Reagan Herman and husband Jerry of Houston, Texas, Rebecca Sentelle of Fairfax Station, Va., Ellie and Jake Warshaw of St. Louis, Mo., and Anna and Emilie Oldham of New Bern. She also had been blessed with four great grandchildren, Kelly and Stephanie Lewis, and Mikyla and Hailey Acheson. She is also survived by three brothers, William Black and wife Mary Ruth of Weaverville, Boyd Black and wife Peggy, of Asheville, and Bobby Black and wife Gail of Black Mountain; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Ron Brown officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Her graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 in West Memorial Park.
