WOODFIN—Mae Christina Clark, age 82, of 22 Mulberry Street went to be with Jesus on Friday, December 28, 2012.
She was born in Asheville on September 21, 1930. Her father was Wade Adolphus Penley and her mother was Cora Lee Hamlin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Stokes Clark, and her brothers, Cecil Penley and Earl Penley.
Mrs. Clark was a lifelong resident of Woodfin, North Carolina. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Biltmore Chapter. She was an Area Captain for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) where she was also involved at the state and regional levels. She was a contributor to the St. Jude's Cancer Research Center for Children and a member of the Gold Book Society of the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
Mrs. Clark was co-owner of Clark's Hydraulics in Woodfin since 1965, and co-founder of the Brookside Chapel on New Stock Road in 1984. She was active in the Senior Citizen's Group of Woodfin working to make the community a better place for all.
She is survived by her two sons: Leonard Kim Clark and wife Joan McLean Clark, residents of Waycross, GA, and David Stephen Clark and wife Debbie Baston Clark, residents of Marshall, NC; sister-in-law Susie Ward Clark; nine grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Revs. Drew Mabrey and Kevin Barclift officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 prior to the funeral.
