Mae Ray Kennedy

WEAVERVILLE—Mae Ray Kennedy, age 95, died Monday, March 7, 2011. Mrs. Kennedy was born October 2, 1915, in Buncombe County where she lived all of her life. She was daughter of the late John and Sue Riddle Ray. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn Kennedy who died May 28, 2001. Surviving are her son, William Kennedy and wife, Sandra Crowder Kennedy of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandsons, Mark Kennedy and wife Patti, their children, Christopher, Ryan, Michael and Kathryn; and Matthew Kennedy and wife Myra, and their son Evan. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Skip Gillikin officiating. Entombment will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
