WEAVERVILLE – Margaret Rice Edmonds, age 92, of Weaverville, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
Mrs. Edmonds was born June 16, 1928 in Buncombe County to the late Wesley and Louella Daniels Rice; she was a resident of Buncombe County all of her life. She sang with the Homeward Bound Quartet and the Gospel Harmoneers Quartet. Margaret was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and canning, and was a dog lover. She was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Woodfin.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John R. Edmonds who died in 1997; daughter, Donna Sprouse; and granddaughter, Belinda Ann Warren.
Surviving are her daughter, Iris Wilson and husband Tim; sons, John Douglas Edmonds, Michael Edmonds and wife Faith, Jeffery Edmonds and wife Sandy; son-in-law Rev. Bill Sprouse; step-sister, Ann Young and husband Bobby; eleven grandchildren, including Tonya Leszczak, whom she raised, and husband Tim; twenty-one great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverend Zane Edmonds and Reverend Jerry Jamerson will officiate. Burial will follow in Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville.
Per the NC Governor, masks are required in all public buildings. Those who choose, may listen to the service on their car radio on FM 87.7 while in the parking lot of the funeral home.
The family will receive friends 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
