HENDERSONVILLE—Mrs. Marion Frances Nicholson, age 84, of Hendersonville, passed to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, April 19, 2012.
Mrs. Nicholson was born November 22, 1927, to the late Captain Frederick C. Spuhler and Marion E. Piesnikowski in Hempstead, New York. She was married to the late Carl B. "Bud" Nicholson for 53 years as a loving and devoted partner in life. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Joan Corbitt and husband Bill.
Surviving are her son, John C. Nicholson of Hendersonville; her daughters, Annalisa Bodtker and husband Myron of Hendersonville and Mary Ellen Revis and husband Junior of Rutherfordton; brother, Frederick C. Spuhler and his wife Mary; beloved cousin, Ruth Winkler and her husband Con; brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Nicholson and wife Margaret "Peggy"; grandchildren, Tonya, Walden, Christopher, Ronnie, Jesse, Dietrich, Holly, Jeffrey, Rowan, and Kelly; great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Alexandria, Kaden, Gavin, Quintin, and Olivia.
Mrs. Nicholson was employed as a legal secretary for Van Winkle Law Firm in Asheville for 25 happy years, retiring in 1994 to care for her husband. She was very social, always having a joke or story to tell in hopes of brightening someone's day. She loved to talk about her late husband Carl, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and surrounded herself with photographs of each of them captured in loving moments. Mrs. Nicholson also had a special place in her heart for children and animals, from cats and dogs to horses. She was able to mend, heal and calm those she rescued. She also supported several charities.
Although she is gone, she will always be remembered fondly by all with whom she came into contact and loved so dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 26, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. A family friend, the Rev. Vinson Price, will officiate at the memorial service. Private burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
