MARSHALL J. MORGAN WEAVERVILLE - Marshall J. Morgan, age 85, of Weaverville, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 after a short illness while surrounded by his family. Mr. Morgan was born October 6, 1928, in Seneca, SC to the late Christine Jones Morgan and Herbert Doyle Morgan. Marshall graduated from Clemson University in 1950 as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army R.O.T.C. with a degree in Agricultural Economics. Marshall immediately joined American Cyanamid Co. where he worked for 40 years in various management positions and retired in 1991 as Global Acquisition Manager. He served as a Quarter Master Officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Marshall met his wife Jeanne in Asheville, and they were married in 1954. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Jeanne Stevens Morgan; three children, Sharon Ann Morgan, Sally Morgan Lawton, Edward Morgan and wife Brenda; four grandchildren, Bryan Lawton and fiancée Dominique UnKauf, Elizabeth Lawton, Gavin Marshall Morgan, and Gwyneth Jeanne Morgan; and brother, Herbert Doyle Morgan. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in the Weaverville United Methodist Church, Main Street, Weaverville, of which he was a member, with Rev. Linda Kelly and Dr. Kenneth B. McKenzie officiating. A private burial will be in West Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider Weaverville UMC Youth Group, P.O. Box 37, Weaverville, NC 28787. West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville is in charge of arrangements. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in the Weaverville United Methodist Church, Main Street, Weaverville, of which he was a member, with Rev. Linda Kelly and Dr. Kenneth B. McKenzie officiating. A private burial will be in West Memorial Park.
