FLETCHER—Martha Arrowood Davis, age 72, of Fletcher, NC went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2009. Mrs. Davis was born November 26, 1937 and lived in Buncombe County most of her life until moving to Fletcher in 2003. She and her husband are members of Biltmore Baptist Church. Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Claude and Pansy Arrowood also preceding her in death was her sister, Lucille A. Jones and step son, Larry Davis. Surviving is her husband of 26 years, Earl A. Davis who was diligently and faithfully by her side. Mrs. Davis is also survived by her sisters JoAnn Metcalf of New Jersey, Wanda Montgomery and her husband Jim of Maryland, Frances MacRae and her husband Rod of Black Mountain, her brother Don Arrowood and his wife Betty of Fairview, and also three step-sons, Allen, Dana and Tracy Davis and their wives, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three nephews, eight nieces, six great nephews, five nieces, and one great great nephew. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Rev. Lester Crayton officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Elizabeth House in Henderson County for all the kindness and comfort shown. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
