Mary Ruth Blackwell

MARY RUTH BLACKWELL WEAVERVILLE – Mary Ruth Blackwell, age 79, of Weaverville went home to be with her Lord and Savior July 9, 2016. Mrs. Blackwell was born May 12, 1937 in Buncombe County where she had lived most of her life. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Weaverville. She was a daughter of the late Carl F. Kennedy and Dessie Lee Evans Kennedy and wife of the late Gary Blackwell. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles “Dickie” Kennedy, and Joe Kennedy. Surviving are her daughter, Myra Blackwell and husband Matthew Kennedy; sister, Margaret Ann Steffenson; grandson, Evan Kennedy; and dear friend, Ed Cole. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 15, 2016, in First Presbyterian Church, Weaverville, with Reverend Skip Gillikin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Spartanburg, SC. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O.
