BARNARDSVILLE—Mary Hilda Clinton Shepherd, age 77, of Barnardsville died Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at her home. Mary Hilda was born April 11, 1933, in Barnardsville to the late Lamar and Ina Jarrett Clinton. She loved her home. Her hobbies included flower gardening, reading and watching sports. Mary Hilda was a member of Dillingham Presbyterian Church. After 37 years of service she retired from American Enka/BASF. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Randy Lamar Galloway, and her sister, Maxie Dillingham. Surviving are her brothers, Ronald Clinton and wife Dollie of Cleveland, OH, and Henry Clinton and wife Barbara of Barnardsville; seven nieces and nephews; fourteen great nieces and nephews; and four great great nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 17, 2010, in Dillingham Presbyterian Church with Pastor Richard Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Dillingham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. At other times the family will be at the home of Henry and Barbara Clinton, 10 Clinton Lane. Because of Mary Hilda's love for flowers, floral arrangements will be accepted and appreciated.
