Mary Elizabeth Crum Filer

Mary Elizabeth Crum Filer, age 89, of Weaverville formerly of Miami, died Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

Mrs. Filer was born in Miami-Dade where she had lived most of her life and was a resident of Buncombe County since 2007.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary was a long-time member of Olympia Heights UMC where she served faithfully as director and teacher for nearly 50 years.  She was a daughter of the late James Bergman and Margaret Marie Humphries Crum.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William J. Filer, Jr. in 2019.

Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Townsend, and Donna Herrera and husband Jorge; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to honor both Beth and Bill will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home in Weaverville, NC, with Pastor Jorge Herrera officiating.
