MARY KATHERINE FISHER CHEEK WEAVERVILLE - Mary Katherine Fisher Cheek, age 78, of Weaverville died Saturday, January 25, 2014. Mrs. Cheek was born August 7, 1935 in Madison County to the late Leonard James and Ella Buckner Fisher. Mary was a co-owner of Brank Insurance Agency until 1998, retiring in 1999. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Weaverville and wife to the late James Albert Cheek who died in 1974. Surviving are sisters, Ruth Tompkins of Weaverville, Louise Collins of Arden; brothers James S. Fisher of Marshall, Tommy Fisher of Weaverville; special niece and coworker, Sandra Tompkins as well as additional nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Jim McCoy and Rev. Lee Roy Denton officiating. Burial will be in Clark's Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
