Mary Lucille Phillips Ward

WEAVERVILLE – Mary Lucille Phillips Ward, age 85, of Weaverville, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, in Buncombe County. Mrs. Ward was born on December 26, 1939, in Yancey County to the late Frank and Marie McIntosh Phillips. She lived most of her life in Buncombe County. 

Mrs. Ward was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a seamstress and formerly worked at Just Ducky and a loyal member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Doyle Ward who died in 2023 as well as her brother, Ronnie Phillips. 

Mrs. Ward is survived by her son, Rick Ward and wife, Maxine of Horse Shoe, NC; her granddaughters, Jenifer Klinger (Ryan) and Tabetha Jenkins (Brandon); great grandchildren, Luke, Aubrey, Madelyn and Karlee; and her sister, Patsy Gibson (Joe).

Visitation and funeral services in honor of Mrs. Ward will be held at 2:30 pm. Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Rhinehart officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.
