Mary Kay Parker

ASHEVILLE – Mary Katherine Parker, age 91, formerly of Weaver Blvd, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Mrs. Parker was born on October 7, 1933, in Buncombe County where she had lived all her life. 

She was the daughter of the late Tyson and Katherine Whiteside Baber. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Reverend J. C. Parker.

Mrs. Parker was pianist at Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church for over forty years. She enjoyed genealogy. 

She is survived by her daughter, Julia Kay Parker, and sons, Welsey Carlton Parker and wife Anne, and Steven Randall Parker and wife Claudia; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A celebration of Mary Kay’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with the Reverend Jim McCoy officiating. The family will greet friends following the celebration of life service. A private burial will be held at Lewis Memorial Park.
