Mary J. Smith

Mary J. Smith, age 87 of 31 N. College St. died Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Mrs. Smith was born April 8, 1926 in Buncombe County and was a resident of Chamblee, GA before moving back to Weaverville in 2008. She was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Florence Wheeler Gregg and was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray G. Smith, Sr. who died in 1981. Surviving are her daughter, Sherry Boland and husband Robert of Collinsville VA; sons, Ray G. Smith, Jr. and wife Carol of Flowery Branch, GA and Marty G. Smith of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Genevieve "Gert" Shope of Weaverville; grandchildren, James M. Boland, Beth Boland Tilley, Christopher Smith, Laura Lee Smith, Emily Smith Northcutt, Chris Brand and Brandice Brand and six great grandchildren. Her graveside service will held at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 12, 2013 in West Memorial Park with Rev. Linda Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville prior to the graveside.
