MARY HAMLIN TWEED
WOODFIN – Mary Hamlin Tweed, age 86, of Woodfin died on Friday, March 31, 2017.
Mrs. Tweed was born May 4, 1930 in Guilford County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends in her earlier years and never missed an opportunity to cook for the holidays. Mary retired from Square D and was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Roy James and Nellie Mae Wilson Hamlin and wife of the late Major Eugene Tweed who died in 1992. Mrs. Tweed was also preceded in death by her brothers, J. R., Arnold, Ronnie, and Pete Hamlin; sister, Blanche Greene; and best friend, Betty Bryant.
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Warren and husband Lee; grandchildren, James Robinson and wife Karen, Larry Williams and wife Sonya, Tammy Harlos and husband T. J.; and four great grandchildren. Mary loved her nieces, nephews and cousins including special niece, Karen Thorpe; and special nephew, Bruce Greene.
Her graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017, in West Memorial Park, Weaverville, with Reverend Clark Henderson officiating.
