Maryann Shepherd

DEKALB, IL - Maryann Shepherd (nee' Erickson) was born in Aurora Illinois on March 30th,1938. She was the only child of Mildred and Willard Erickson. She spent a lot of time with her grandparents affectionately known as Nanny and Big Poppy.  She was confirmed in the Catholic church as a child.  She married Henry Frank Kindelberger in 1957 and to this union 3 girls, Loriann Sanders, Patricia Marie McGray, and Terri Sue Bruner were born.  She later married Taylor Devon Shepherd on April 2nd, 1969, and they were married until his passing in 2011.  They lived most of their lives in Illinois but moved to North Carolina where they truly loved to be until health issues forced them back to Illinois where two of their daughters could care for them.

She was a grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 26 with one great-great-grandchild on the way. She loved us all deeply and ended every phone call with “tell your families I love them.” She worked hard all her life but made time for hobbies such as fishing, garage sales, flea markets, bingo, and loved Elvis Presley. She would play him very loud on the radio whenever he sang! She spent the last nine years of her life at Bethany Resource and Health care due to ill health.

She is survived by her daughters Loriann (Max) and their children, Morgan and Heather; Patricia (Jeffery) and their children, Tim, Amber, Jennifer, Anthony, and Jacob; Terri and her children, Lita Renee', Jack Jr., and Will; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Jack Bruner, and a great-grandchild, Conner McGray.

We give our heartfelt thanks to Bethany Health Care, Promedica Hospice, Carrie Baldwin, Tegan, Kelly, and Kim for their special care of her.
