Mike Rice

EDNEYVILLE - Mike Rice, age 69, of Edneyville, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 30, 2023. 

Mike was a graduate of North Buncombe High School and Asheville has always been his home. In his teens, he started working with his dad, Jack Rice at Rice's Exxon on Haywood Rd. Over the course of 40 plus years, he went on to operate several full-service stations here including Charlotte Street Exxon, Phillips 66, Rice's Service Center and most recent, worked for his brother Scott at West Asheville Exxon before retiring. He had an incredible sense of humor, was kindhearted and always thinking of others. Mike was an avid sports fan of football, basketball and golf. 

He was preceded in death by his father Jack Rice. Surviving is his loving mother, Viola Rice of Weaverville; sisters, Sandy (Gary) Parris of Marshall, Darlene (Charlie) Galland of Hendersonville; brother, Scott (Patty) Rice of Weaverville; sons, Dewayne (Heather) Rice of Advance, NC and Brandon (Kayla) Rice of Marshall; as well as grandchildren and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:00 am at West Memorial Park in Weaverville.
