ALEXANDER—Mildred Sluder Burchett, age 70, of Curtis Parker Rd., died Wednesday, July 17, 2013.
Mrs. Burchett was born December 4, 1942, in Buncombe County. She retired from the French Broad Elementary School where she worked in the cafeteria. She enjoyed walking, camping, and spending time with her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lou Bailey Sluder; husband, Ervin F. Burchett who died in 2006; grandson, Eric Bryant; and brothers, David and Russell Sluder.
A loving mama, she is survived by her daughter, Brenda Maynor and friend James Randall of Alexander; son, Edward Bryant and wife Cindy of Waynesville; sisters, Virginia Sluder Rogers and husband Hubert, and Shirley Sluder Franklin, all of Alexander; grandsons, Joseph Maynor and Kenneth Bryant.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Steve Rogers and Dean Haney officiating. Burial will be in French Broad Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
