MILTON LANDON
ASHEVILLE – Lawrence Milton Landon, age 90, of 15 Larlyn Lane died Tuesday, January 10, 2017.
Mr. Landon was born January 1, 1927 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, and was on the maiden voyage of the USS Midway in 1945. Milton retired from Southern Bell after 42 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church Weaverville for 66 years and taught Sunday school for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Leon and Laura Chambers Landon; his wife of 61 years Kathleen Wright Landon; and sister, Mary Carter.
Surviving are his daughter, Lynn McGalliard and husband Carl of Piney Flats, TN; son, Larry Landon and wife Kim of Arden; grandchildren, Marc, Lauren, Ryan, Matthew, Katie, Jessie, Whitney; along with 10 great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017, in First Baptist Church Weaverville, with Dr. Jim McCoy and Reverends Randolph Evans and Lee Roy Denton officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
